Abstract

Hazrat Maulana Pir Hafiz Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (1953–2025) was one of the prominent contemporary spiritual scholars of Pakistan. He belonged to Jhang and devoted a major part of his life to Tasawwuf, religious education, moral training and social reform. His distinctive contribution was that he presented Tasawwuf in a simple and practical form. For him, spiritual training was not limited to zikr, meditation or the relationship between a disciple and a spiritual guide; rather, it was closely connected with character, family life, social dealings, rights of people and obedience to Shariah. He established Mahad al-Faqir al-Islami in Jhang and developed Maktaba al-Faqir as an important publishing platform through which his lectures and writings reached a wide readership. A large number of his books and lecture collections deal with Tasawwuf, purification of the self, repentance, practical religious life, family reform and the moral training of the younger generation. This study discusses his background, spiritual training, educational and institutional services, major books and writings, and his role in social reform. The paper argues that his lasting contribution lies in connecting Tasawwuf with everyday life and presenting spiritual reform in a language that ordinary people, educated youth and modern readers could understand.
