Abstract

The research is about A Specialized Study of the Selected Commentaries on al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyyah (13th to 15th Hijri Centuries AH). From the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries of the Hijri calendar, the Islamic scholarly world witnessed major transformations, including colonial pressure, the emergence of the modern state, the printing revolution, the restructuring of universities and madrasas, and the expansion of public religious education. The selected works from this period are not all of the same type. Al-Jurdani was selected because he represents the summarization and synthesis of several earlier commentaries. Ibn ʿUthaymin was selected because his commentary provides an effective example of modern pedagogical instruction, juristic and theological preference, and systematic organization of practical benefits. He also compiles and abridges earlier commentaries, making traditional madrasa material more accessible and useful. Ibn ʿUthaymin adopts a style characterized by clear reasoning close to an oral lesson, juristic preference, and an organized extraction of practical benefits. Al-ʿAbbad was selected because Fath al-Qawi al-Matin brings together hadith sources, commentary, and concise, point-by-point conclusions within a relatively brief volume. Taken together, these three works represent three dimensions of later commentary writing: heritage-based summarization, pedagogical explanation, and hadith-oriented concision. He presents a modern pedagogical commentary through hadith authentication and concise, point-by-point lessons and benefits.
